Berlin Wall Notes
•Built in 1961; Destroyed in 1989 •Was built to separate Soviet controlled East Berlin from Allied controlled West Berlin •Berlin was located deep in Soviet territory, but split between WW2 allies and Soviets •Capitalist economy of West Berlin grew quickly in the 1950’s •East Germans began to flee for better jobs in West Berlin. •First wall was built 27 miles long •133 people were killed trying to escape to West Berlin

Hello Marshall 8th Grade!
It's me, Mr. Butler.
I'm going to use this weblog to provide material that will supplement our class lessons.
I'll post relevant articles and useful videos which should help enhance your understanding of certain historical periods. I'll use this "blog" as much as I can to provide you with the best information I can. For the time being, I'll use this for reading and social studies for Room 310 and just social studies for all other homerooms.
